Nous avons pensé que cet article très intéressant pourrait parfaitement convenir en ces jours de l’inauguration de notre association, l’AFPJ : en effet, il présente des points forts de l’histoire de la dissociation en France, et plus largement en Europe. En rapprochant les travaux de Janet et de Breuer, l’auteur montre leur importance pour le devenir de la psychothérapie au début du 20ème siècle : des événements qui auront de nombreuses retombées jusqu’à aujourd’hui ! Cet article de M. Fitzgerald pourra donc intéresser particulièrement les praticiens ayant affaire à des patients dissociatifs, ou pour lesquels un traitement par phases s’avère fonctionnellement efficace, quel que soit le degré de leur dissociation.

We have thought that this very interesting article would suit well in these times of the inauguration of our Association, the AFPJ : in fact, it is presenting some key points of the history of dissociation in France and, more broadly in Europe. By bringing Janet’s contribution closer to Breuer’s, the author demontrates their importance for the evolution of psychotherapy in the beginning of the 20th century : these events would eventually have a great impact, till nowadays ! This article, from M. Fitzgerald is likely to interest practitioners with dissociative patients, or those with patients in need of a phase-oriented treatment, whatever the stage of their dissociation.
